‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite:’ All Supported Android Devices

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite

It’s time to get out and do a bunch of wizarding stuff. Trust me: there’s a bunch. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is out in the world, and it even arrived a day early. The next game from Pokemon GO developers Niantic Labs and its partners WB and Portkey Games is a take on the essential location-based AR that made Pokemon GO an international phenomenon and made Ingress a pretty solid game with a feverishly dedicated fanbase. It’s not quite Pokemon GO with wizard stuff, but it’s also Pokemon GOwith wizard stuff. It’s available on iOS and Android, but you’ll need a phone or mobile device capable of running it.

The most important thing to know is that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is supported in Android 5.0, so that’s your most basic requirement: if your phone can’t run Android 5.0, it most likely can’t run Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

Here’s a list of confirmed supported devices, though this is sort of crowdsourced from people talking around the internet. It is likely not complete yet, so I’ll expand as more people start playing this game and figuring out what works.

Pixel: Pixel 1XL Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3XL

Asus: Asus Zenfone 3, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1

Huawei: Huawei P10, Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Lite, Huawei Honor 8

OnePlus: OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T

LG: LG G6+

Pocophone: Pocophone F1

Samsung: Samsung Note 9, Samsung Galaxy A3, Samsung J5, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S7, Smasung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S10

Sony: Sony Xperia z3

This is an evolving list, so we’ll keep this updated if more devices are found to be supported, but the Android ecosystem is broad, wide, and a notorious headache for developers. Niantic Labs is a Google spinoff, however, so it’s always had a soft spot for Android: Ingress took a little while to come out on iOS, for example. The developer seems to hoping for a quick and efficient launch compared to the long, bug-plagued release of Pokemon GO, so let’s hope everything gets running smoothly over the next few days and the team is able to get new regions online.
