Barcelona news: Man Utd Paul Pogba plan revealed… but there’s an issue – Guillem Balague

Barcelona wanted to sign Pogba from Manchester United this summer but, despite bidding £45million plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, were unable to snap him up.

Transfer talk does, however, remain ongoing and, with the Red Devils stuck in a rut, a January move could happen.

Express Sport understands Barcelona are willing to play the long game when it comes to luring Pogba to Catalonia.

It was a tactic that worked well for them a year ago when, having missed out on Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, they were rewarded for their patience just mere months later.

La Liga expert Balaye has claimed Barcelona are working on a deal for Pogba.

But, at the moment, they lack the finances in order to make a transfer deal for the Manchester United midfielder happen.

“With Pogba, I think you’re going to see a very special Pogba for two reasons,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“One is because he has been challenged from his own bench, from his own manager.

“But, if he has a very good season, I think he will look at opportunities from other clubs.

Barcelona are looking at him right now.

“But they are also looking at the finances.

“And, right now, they do not have the money Pogba would require to get him out of there and to give him the wages that he needs.

“Unless they bring in a lot more money, I don’t see Pogba going to Barcelona easily.

“They are looking to see if he can leave and what fee United would want.

“Right now, though, they are not negotiating. So we will need to keep an eye on that one.”

Balague also thinks United need better from their current midfielders following their 1-1 draw with Wolves yesterday.

“It’s quite clear they need two centre-backs,” Balague added.

“It’s also clear that, despite Nemanja Matic, they also need another holding midfielder of quality.

“For me, though, the key to them is the last third.

“They have a lot of pace, of course, with Martial, Rashford and Mata too.

“But more of that is needed. I think they need midfielders who can provide more service to the players up top.”
